NEW DELHI, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Incessant rains on Wednesday lashed India's northeastern state of Tripura, disrupting normal life and triggering water logging in low lying areas, officials said.

According to officials, more than 3, 400 families affected from water logging in low lying areas have taken shelter in 64 relief camps set up across the state.

The officials also said that several houses have been damaged in Gomati, Khowai, Dhalai and South Tripura districts

"Food like situation is in offing in Sabroom and Belonia of South Tripura district as people were seen wading in water carrying their belongings to move to safer places," an official of State Emergency Operation centre said.

Reports said water level of Howrah, Manu, Feni and Mahori rivers was increasing in wake of the heavy downpour.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological department said that heavy rains are likely to occur in next 24 hours at isolated places in the state.

Authorities have pressed in disaster response force teams into operation in different districts for rescue operation.
