PHNOM PENH, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia will deploy a total of 80,000 security personnel to ensure security and public order during the July general election, National Police deputy chief Gen. Kirt Chantharith said on Wednesday.

"Up to 80,000 security forces, including police, soldiers, military police and state security guards, will be deployed to protect the election," he said during the opening ceremony of a training course on the election law and the code of ethics for security agents during the election.

Cambodia is committed to holding the election in a free, fair and orderly manner without any intimidation, Chantharith said.

The Southeast Asian country is scheduled to hold the general election on July 29.

In the last election on July 28, 2013, the ruling Cambodian People's Party of Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen won 68 parliamentary seats against 55 seats for the now-dissolved opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party in the 123-seat National Assembly.
